Minister Gallant detailed the Iranian strategy of converting trading vessels into military vessels armed with offensive equipment such as UAVs and missile systems, as well as with advanced means for intelligence gathering. He also addressed their intention to station the vessels at high distances from Iran, for extended periods of time.
Minister Gallant said: "The [Iranian plan] is a concerning, 'pirate policy'. Iran is conducting itself like a collection of criminal organizations and not a modern state. The floating terror bases are an extension of Iran's ongoing maritime terrorism, as seen in its actions in the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea. Iran aims to expand its reach to the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea and even the shores of the Mediterranean. This is a structured plan designed to threaten trade and flight routes, both military and civilian, and to create a permanent threat in the maritime arena."

The ruling Israeli Government has attempted a reform of the Judicial System. In recent years the Israeli Supreme Court has frequently interfered in government decisions. This happens when the government is right-wing but not when the left-wing secular are in power. For instance, the Supreme Court allowed the expulsion of Jews from areas of Israel (Gush Katif) but forbade the eviction from southern Tel Aviv of Sudanese Muslim Illegal immigrants.
Among other things the Supreme Court intervenes against the punishment of Arab terrorists and the application of penalties to their families even though the families openly declare support for the crimes committed. The Supreme Court limits the ability of Jewish soldiers and civilians to protect themselves against Arab attacks.
So too the Supreme Court is also consistently prejudiced against the Jewish Region and takes a negative stance towards Orthodox Jews.
In short, when a Religious and right-wing government coalition exists the Supreme Court and its affiliates circumscribes the government's abilities to rule and put in practice the Agendas they were elected for.
On the other hand, if and when anti-Religious secular forces take over the Supreme Court nearly always rules in its favor.
The Supreme Courts in Israel appoints its own members. These are invariably members of the ruling non-religious elites often belonging to certain families and mainly (almost exclusively) of secular liberal East European Jewish origin, apart from an Arab or two. Mizrachi Jews are not welcome being considered insufficiently qualified.
The Supreme Court in its present constellation has a backlog of more than 10 years. Not only do they not manage to work sufficiently but they also refuse to allow others to function alongside them.
'The Reform attempts of the present government were intended to redress this situation. Its efforts consisted mainly of appointing additional judges and liberalizing (sic) the criteria by which judges are appointed.
This was misrepresented by the Secular Israeli Media backed by Big Money as an attempt to take dictatorial control of the governmental process. A great deal of opposition and mass protests against the present relatively right-wing government were initiated. The main claim seems to be that in lieu of a formal Constitution the Supreme Courts acts as a balancing force against 'tyrannous' rule of the majority. Apparently if the majority is rights-wing and relatively God-fearing then it must be neutralized.
Secular Anti-Biblical Protesters against Judicial Reform receive support from foreign European Governments as well as from the present US Administration.
As a result of these protests the Legislative Reform Initiatives were halted and talks began between the two sides. The Government used the relative quiet to pass its Budget for the next 4 years. Now it says if no progress is made with the talks being held it will continue with its legislative reform initiative.
The US Administration has protested and along with others is working against the Israeli government.
One would think the US administration would have numerous other matters to worry itself about.

These days the ones with the guns (both M-16s and Kalashnikovs) are just as likely to be Arabs.
About 400,000 illegal weapons circulate in Israel a good portion (possibly most) of which are to be found among the Arabs in Israel and the West Bank.
Jews do not force Arabs or anyone else to leave their homes and land. Maybe they should but they do not. Jews relatively speaking are usually law-abiding and of a peaceful disposition.
Arabs however, with the assistance of volunteers from Europe and America do what they can to prevent Jews from living anywhere in the Land of Israel.
Concerning the West Bank (Judah and Samaria) the situation is that:
Israeli within its pre-1967 borders has one of the highest population density in the world. There are vacant lands in Judah and Samaria. Jews settle there when they are allowed to. The Arabs do what they can to stop them. These lands need to be under Israeli control for security reasons as well as for ecological and related factors. There is no escaping this fact. Since the local Arab population is hostile and potentially allied with neighboring countries Jewish settlements need to be established in strategically important areas.
Personally I think all the Arabs should be expelled or encouraged to leave if necessary with compensation and assistance in re-location.
Most Israeli do not agree with this.
Nevertheless, in a hypothetical situation where the Arabs were in control they would not hesitate to kill and/or violently expel all the Jews here. They would act in the same way, as they have already done, not only to Jews but also to Arabs who were not Muslims or who were Muslims of a different kind. Concerning Jews they are especially antagonistic and consider the very presence of Jews to impugn upon their personal and national honor.
