It is possible that historical mass changes in YDNA haplogroups could be a result of lateral DNA transfer, also known as horizontal gene transfer. This occurs when DNA is transferred between organisms that are not parent and offspring, and can happen through mechanisms such as viral infection, transduction, or conjugation. Studies have shown that this type of transfer can occur between different species, including between bacteria and higher organisms, and may have played a role in the evolution of certain genetic traits. However, more research is needed to understand the specific mechanisms and extent of lateral DNA transfer in different populations and haplogroups.

A 'mass' change is just something that spreads due to that population increasing; I don't think every change;s origin is known, i.e. when from a virus vs. simple mutation.

Brit-Am/Hebrew Awareness believes that a significant portion of the population of most Western nations are descended from the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel.
Brit-Am places an emphasis on the English-speaking world whom we identify as pertaining mainly to the Tribes of Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseh.
Brit-Am works to promote awareness of this identification in a framework that is positive towards the Jewish people and the State of Israel.
Beliefs that the Lost Ten Tribes are among Western Peoples have existed for centuries.
We work to maintain awareness of these beliefs and spread them while upgrading the evidence supporting them.
We have contributed to general appreciation concerning the Ten Tribes through our knowledge of the Hebrew Biblical Text, Rabbinical sources and commentaries, new historical studies, archaeology, and numerous other fields.
Even in the field of DNA we have made advances in removing objections that previously existed.
Brit-Am contributes both through its research efforts and also via ongoing efforts to spread knowledge of the subject.
All this requires funding.
We get by through selling our publications and appeals for funds.
Sometimes this works reasonably well and at other times it does not.
We understand that whoever helps Brit-Am will be blessed from Heaven.
