I am very enthusiastic about this subject. It is most personal to me and I look forward to reading more about the migration of the tribes. I am Welsh/Irish, my Welsh ancestors having left Wales for the William Pen colony in America in 1683.

Tex Marrs
Texe W. Marrs (born 1944) is an American writer, who runs two Christian ministries, Power of Prophecy Ministries and Bible Home Church, both based in Austin, Texas.
Marrs puts out frequent poisonous missives against the Jewish people.
He was once on our mailing list and sent us complimentary messages.
He is apparently a very confused person and one to be avoided. We may deserve to be complimented but not at the expense of those who deserve it more than us.

3. The Importance of Knowing
Anecdote:
Recently I met a friend for coffee. R is an observant Jew from southern Europe who was born non-Jewish but converted to Judaism ages ago. All his life R says he has encountered Kohanim i.e. Jews who are Kohens i.e. descendants of Aharon the brother of Moses and therefore hereditary priests according to the Bible. Different Kohanim have been his friends, his teachers, his neighbors, people he was involved with in one way or other and with whom he felt fraternity. [I too in other ways have had much to do with matters of the Kahuna i.e. the tasks and aspects of the Kohens, but I did not mention that].
R is thinking of taking a DNA test in the hope that his affinity with the Cohens be shown as reflected in his ancestry.
I told R that one of my sons took a DNA test and it showed us as descended from the Clan of Nial and the hereditary kings of Ireland.
[The info received some degree of rationalization later after further inquiries revealed hitherto concealed family history.]
R asked me what was the feeling like upon receiving the information.
I replied:
It adds something to life. Being a descendant of a gentile King is OK. It adds something. [It might not be what I would have chosen but it is still good enough, maybe better.] It explains some things from my past. It is worth knowing and adds another dimension to existence. I now pay attention when I run across a family name that could be part of the clan.
We do not believe in DNA in the absolute sense.
Our present understanding is that DNA is a result of environmental influence. Due to the environment an inbuilt switch, that was always present but not active, is activated. This results in physical changes that are henceforth inherited.
Physical changes that are so influenced include those traceable to DNA or changes in the DNA itself.
What is the point of the above anecdote?
It reflects a bit of family history that may not mean much. Nevertheless I found it important and useful.

DNA tests may be helpful; but only if you have the time and energy and a little know-how to hount around and clarify their significance or lack of it.
