2. Gaffe. Christian Visitor Unconsciously or Unconscionably Insults Brit-Am Director!
We met up with some visitors from the UK.
It was on the whole quite pleasant and informative.
As usual we tried to avoid inter-faith discussion and concentrate on matters concerning physical identity of the Ten Tribes of Israel.
Then the husband opined (almost out of no-where) that if Yair converted to Christianity he would probably be persecuted by his fellow Jews.
We replied that we do not known if such is the case but we had no intention of finding out.
We also felt somewhat insulted but could not place the cause at the time.
It was as if we had have said to the person that the only reason he does not commit murder and/or rape or worse is because he is afraid of the police!
[For all we known in his case such is the case but for us it was not!]
Such encounters entailing gratuitous insults or offensive innuendos sometimes uttered in an absence of mind are fairly common.
They occur too often.
