My letter in today's Hamodia in response to their article about this "Black 12 Tribes" group!

Dear Sir

Further to "True Jews" (Features, 2 Elul), a solid case can be made from the Tenach, Chazal, archeology, geography, symbology, national characteristics, historical role, folklore, linguistics, dna etc that the Ten Lost Tribes exiled by Sancherev migrated northwards and then westwards, and that representatives of Reuven are to be found in France, Shimon in Wales, Yissochor in Switzerland and Finland, Zevulun in Holland, Gad in Sweden, Asher in Ireland, Dan amongst the Danes and Celts, Naftoli in Norway,....and Ephraim and Menashe amongst the British, American, Australian, New Zealand and South African peoples!

In seeming fulfilment of numerous prophecies in the Tenach, the British and Americans in particular became world powers, were numerous, ruled over other peoples, became seafarers, were located at the "Ends of the Earth", had agricultural plenty, displayed a relative lack of antisemitism, were symbolized by the lion and unicorn, "possessed the gates of their enemies" (eg the strategic choke points of the Suez canal, Dover straights, Ceylon, Gibraltar, Panama canal, Malta, Aden, Falklands, Cape of Good Hope, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Singapore etc), were the only nations able to defeat Esau (Germany and Italy) - "Esau can only fall by the hands of the descendants of Yosef" (Bava Basra 123) etc.

Although the Ten Lost Tribes long ago lost awareness of their Ancient Israelite origins and have the status of complete gentiles (Yevamos 17), when British Prime Minister Theresa May recently told US President Donald Trump "Let's lead the world together once again!", she may have been echoing an Ephraimitic-Menashic truism! We hope that in the future we of Yehudah and those of the Ten Lost Tribes of Yisrael, whoever and wherever they are, will be reunited: "In those days the House of Yehudah will walk with the House of Yisrael, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance to their fathers" (Yirmiyah 3:18), "Thus says the L-rd G-d: Behold, I will take the stick of Yosef which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Yisrael, his comrades, and I will place them together with the stick of Yehudah, to make one stick, and they shall be one in My hand" (Yechezkel 37:19)

There is an island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland called The Isle of Skye is -in Gaelic, An t-Eilean Sgitheanach. Sleat was & still is home to the Clan Donald, who were known as THE warrior clan. There are many in Scotland that believe the Stone of Destiny never left our country & that King Edward was given a fake stone. He was my Granny's cousin, we are all MacDonald of Sleat. My Gran was a Senior History Teacher & was a highly intelligent woman. She told myself & siblings numerous times the stone was there. Sleat has MANY MANY links to Ireland, dating back to pre 500BC But one link is Aonghus Og. His ancestors are easily traced via wiki, back to Ireland. Domhnall, in Irish Gaelic means "ruler of the world" Â Â Â Â Â Â

5. What Tribe did Daniel Belong to?

Yair does anyone comment on which tribe Daniel came from?Â Is judah most likely?

Daniel is assumed to have belonged to the House of David.

After the destruction of Jerusalem the King of Babylon ordered that children of royalty and nobility be brought to Babylon.

Daniel (NASB) 1:
3 Then the kingÂ ordered Ashpenaz, the chief of his officials, to bring in some of the sons of Israel, including some of the royal family and of the nobles, 4 youths in whom was no defect, who were good-looking, showing intelligence in every branch of wisdom, endowed with understanding and discerning knowledge, and who had ability forÂ serving in the king's court; and he ordered him to teach them theÂ literature and language of the Chaldeans. ... 6 Now among them from the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. 7 Then the commander of the officials assigned new names to them; and to Daniel he assigned the name Belteshazzar, to Hananiah Shadrach, to Mishael Meshach and to Azariah Abed-nego.

As stated the sources seem to ascribe Daniel to the House of David but according to the simple meaning of Scripture it could have been from another branch of the nobility.
He was definitely from "the sons of Judah" (Daniel 1:6).

One of the Sages, Rabbi Tanchum (Talmud, Sanhedrin 93) said that Daniel and his three companions were all descended from David.

Daniel has been identified withÂ Sheshbazzar who laid the foundation of the rebuilt Temple in the time of Ezra.

Ezra 5:
14 Also the gold and silver utensils of the house of God which Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple in Jerusalem, and brought them to the temple of Babylon, these King Cyrus took from the temple of Babylon and they were given to one whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had appointed governor. 15 He said to him, 'Take these utensils, go and deposit them in the temple in Jerusalem and let the house of God be rebuilt in its place.' 16 Then that Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundations of the house of GodÂ in Jerusalem; and from then until now it has been under construction and it is not yet completed.
