A Midrash (Segfer HaBahir) says that the Universe has 12 borders and Modern Science may now be agreeing! cf.

This is allegedly derived from Matthew 2:18 but actually it taken from the Prophet Jeremiah:
Jeremiah (NASB) 31:
15 Thus says the LORD,
A voice is heard in Ramah,
Lamentation and bitter weeping.
Rachel is weeping for her children;
She refuses to be comforted for her children,
Because they are no more.
Here "Rachel" represents the wife of Jacob and mother of Joseph and Benjamin. It refers to the Ten Tribes who were headed by Joseph and taken into exile by the Assyrians. In continuation they are told to be comforted for Ephraim and the other Tribes will be brought back.
Jeremiah (NASB) 31:
16 Thus says the LORD,
Restrain your voice from weeping
And your eyes from tears;
For your work will be rewarded, declares the LORD,
And they will return from the land of the enemy.
17 There is hope for your future, declares the LORD,
And your children will return to their own territory.
18 I have surely heard Ephraim grieving,
You have chastised me, and I was chastised,
Like an untrained [bull] calf;
Bring me back that I may be restored,
For You are the LORD my God...
20 Is Ephraim My dear son?
.... I will surely have mercy on him, declares the LORD.
21 ...Return, O virgin of Israel,
