The Israelite Tribe of Asher is one of the Lost Ten Tribes. In this Talk we discuss characteristics of the Tribe of Asher as found in Rabbinical Literature.
These are based either on internal Biblical Sources such as nuances in the text, etc, or accepted Traditions.
The Tribe of Asher was described as generally of a happy disposition. They were rich and prosperous and famous for high qulasity and great quantity of olive oil produced in their territory.
Tribal Personality Traits found within the Tribe of Asher included the ability to unite Contradictory Forces, a belief in the values of Rehabilitation and Rectification, in Education, and in the
Victory of Spiritual Light over Darkness. On the negative side Asher was influenced by pagan neighbors. The Phoenician non-Israelite city of Sidon was within the Realm of Asher. They worshipped the idolatrous goddess Ashirah.
This affected the Israelite Tribe of Asher adversely.
