1. Question. Does the Term "House of Israel" when found in the Bible refer to only the Ten Tribes?
Brit-Am Reply:
The term House of Israel and similar titles can mean both the Ten Tribes and Judah. It may also be applied to the Ten Tribes alone. In addition it is sometimes used for descendants of the Kingdom of Judah who also included a minority representation from the other tribes. It all depends on the context and on the Prophet in question. Ezekiel, for instance, applies the words almost solely to Judah except where he expressly says otherwise in speaking of both Judah and the Ten Tribes. Apart from Ezekiel, the term ,"House of Israel" as used in the other Prophets means Judah almost half the time! The combination "House of Judah and House of Israel" and the like is usually applied to the Jews and the Ten Tribes together. Even here however we found instances where it meant mainly Judah (e.g. Jeremiah 13:11, cf. Micah 3:9).

2. The Prophecies of Balaam Concerning the Ten Tribes.
The first five books of the Bible in English are known as the Pentateuch. They were written by Moses and are concerned the most important part of Scripture. They are also known as the Homash (pronounced with a slight "ch" sound on the initial "H") meaning "Five" and/or as the Torah. The term "Torah" in Hebrew can apply to any teaching in general but in the context of the Bible it refers to the first five books. The Torah is divided into sections one of which is read out int he Synagogue every Shabat. By the end of the year the whole of the Torah will have been read through from beginning to end.
The section for this week is known as "Balak" (Numbers 22:1 to 25:9). Its main theme concerns the Prophecies of Balaam the pagan prophet. Balaam was hired by Balak the Midianite King of Moab to curse Israel. Every time he tried to utter ac curse a blessing came out. These Blessings have prophetic Significnance
Balaam (Numbers 22:2-25:9) prophesied concerning Israel. He foresaw the future division between Judah and the Ten Tribes (Numbers 23:7). The Israelites would be a nation counted Alone and not with other peoples. They would not be subject to the same limitations as the others are (23:9). They would be above the other peoples though bearing heavier responsibilities.
They would be an innumerous people, a very great multitude (23:10). They were to receive an unconditional blessing (23:8,19-20). A portion of them would be governed by a monarch (23:21). Their symbols would include a lion (23:24, 24:9) and unicorn (23:22, 24:8) like the British Coat of Arms. They were to dwell according to their Tribes (Numbers 24:2), and in fertile rich areas (24:6), to be in many waters, in every sea, and to rule the waves (24:7). They would become the most powerful national grouping in world history (24:7). They would defeat Edomite nations such as Germany and Japan (24:9).
The Kenites (Rechabites) would be exiled along with the Ten Tribes and return alongside them (24:22 see Rashi).
All of the above points are pertinent to Western Peoples especially those who derive from the British Isles and their kinfolk.

Josephus reported that the Kings of Israel and Judah had established colonies along the shores of the Black Sea even before the Ten Tribes were exiled.
Josephus lived at the time of the Second Temple being destroyed (ca. 70 CE). His understanding of the Prophecy of Balaam shows how it was understood from the earliest age.
Josephus in his paraphrase of the Prophecy of Balaam (Numbers 24:7), gives the prophecy as saying:
"The multitude of your posterity also shall live as well in the islands as on the continent, and that more in number than are the stars of heaven." Flavius Josephus: Antiquities of the Jews - Book IV ch.4 s.6

3. 17th Tammuz Coming Up. A Jewish Fast Day recalled in Zechariah 8:19.
Sunday, 27th June, 2021, is 17th Tammuz, 5781.
This is a fast day where Religious Jews go without food or drink from sunrise to sundown. After sundown eating and drinking is permitted.
This day commemorates the breach of the walls of Jerusalem before the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE. It falls on the 17th day of the 4th Hebrew month of Tammuz and marks the beginning of the three-week mourning period leading up to the 9th of Ab (Tisha B'Av).
According to the Mishnah,five calamities befell the Jewish people on this day:
Moses broke the two tablets of stone on Mount Sinai.
The daily tamid offering ceased to be brought;
During the Roman siege of Jerusalem, the city walls were breached, leading to the destruction of the Second Temple on Tisha B'Av;
Prior to Bar Kokhba's revolt, Roman military leader Apostomus burned a Torah scroll;
An idol was erected in the Temple.

Zechariah 8:
19 Thus says the LORD of Hosts, The fast of the fourth, the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventh and the fast of the tenth months will become joy, gladness, and cheerful feasts for the House of Judah; so love truth and peace.
[These four fast are the four fast-days the Jews still keep to mourn the destruction of the First and Second Temples:
THE FAST OF THE FOURTH MONTH, -17th Tammuz
THE FAST OF THE FIFTH, - 9th of Av
AND THE FAST OF THE SEVENTH, - 3rd of Tishrei (Gedaliah)
AND THE FAST OF THE TENTH, - 10th Tebeth (Tevet).
The four months mentioned fit the months of the Hebrew Calendar. On each of the designated months there is a Fast-Day associated with Destruction of the Temple and Exile of the Jewish People. These are the only Fast Days (recognized throughout the Jewish Diaspora) in the Jewish Calendar apart from the Fast of Esther just before Purim and Yom Kippur which is a different case.
The Jews still keep these fasts.
The Bible says the Jews would keep these fasts.
No-one else keeps them.
Has the Bible made a mistake?
Confused the Jews with somebody else?
The Jews are the only ones who keep the Four fasts in the numbered months.
Therefore the Jews are the Jews of Judah mentioned in the Bible.
