Rabbinical Commentators (Rashi, Radak, etc) say that "ALAMOTH" is a type of musical instrument as mentioned in 1-Chronicles 15:20.
2 GOD IS FOR US A SHELTER AND A STRENGTH, A HELP IN TROUBLES; HE IS VERY ACCESSIBLE.
3 THEREFORE WE WILL NOT FEAR WHEN THE EARTH CHANGES AND WHEN MOUNTAINS TOTTER INTO THE HEART OF SEAS.

3. Historical Research and a Brit-Am Appeal. Leon Poliakov (1910- 1997).
I was just looking at an old copy I have of "The Aryan Myth, A HISTORY OF RACIST AND NATIONALIST IDEAS," by Leon Poliakov.
Leon Poliakov (1910- 1997) was born in Russia but most of his work was in French. He wrote extensively on the Holocaust and antisemitism.
Works of his that I read include "Harvest of Hate," "The Aryan Myth," and "History of Antisemitism." In each of his works he includes important information
that is mostly overlooked by other researchers.
In his chapter on Britain and the United States he includes the concept of the English-speaking peoples believing they were descended from Israel.
This was one of several such notions they had that were historically important.
He says:
"The English had four great mythologies with which to construct their own myth of origin - the Greco-|Roman, the Celtic, the Germanic, and the Hebrew.
"It is well known that the latter two were the mainstay of their traditions and were carried across the Atlantic. This Thomas Jefferson discussed making the seal of the United States with portraits of the two great ancestral crossings, that of the sea by Hengist and Horsa, the Saxon chiefs, and that of the desert by the children of Israel....#
He traces belief in an Israelite Origin to be time of Gildas in the 500s CE and possibly also to the Venerable Bede in the 700s.
There is an Editorial Foreword by Norman Cohn, also an important historian, author of "Warrant for Genocide.".
He speaks of an Institute they had helped set up that encourages and supports independent research.
That is what Brit-Am does, independent research.
We have not got any academic institutions or the like.
Nevertheless like all the others we need funding.
Our readership is all we have and that is not large nor always widely enthusiastic concerning our findings.
All the same Brit-Am provides a service of value of possible historical importance.

The Commentary "Beit Yisroel" (Rabbi Yisroel Alter, 1895-1977) speaks at length on this but from a different aspect.
(We have used this sources several times in the past on Lost Ten Tribe Matters).
Among other things he says (roughly): That by the two and a half-Tribes from over the Jordan participating in the Conquest west of the Jordan their own lands (east of the Jordan) are to be joined (in the spiritual sense) to the Land they are conquering and it is all counted as one entity.
(Without that it would have been considered a separate entity).
"710. Matot." paraphrased:
This was their task, to make the area east of the Jordan part of the Land of Israel, to be included with the whole of Israel. Moses showed them how to do this. They needed to invest all their energies in the conquest of the Land west of the Jordan together with the other Hebrews. They would then receive their own land east of the Jordan, which would then be upgraded as part of the Promised Land of Israel.

CC captions edited. When the Hebrews came out of Egypt they wandered for 40 years in the Wilderness. Towards the end of that time they conquered the areas to the east of the Jordan River. It was intended that they continue over the Jordan and conquer the Western Side, divide that into 12 portions among the 12 Tribes then return. After that they were to return and divide the Eastern Portion they had taken previously among each of the 12 Tribes so that each one would have its own grazing area. The Tribes of Reuben and Gad however wanted all the eastern half for themselves in advance but nothing on the west side. An exchange was agreed to BUT Reuben and Gad had to join the other Tribes west of the Jordan in conquering their section. This has parallels to our own times where descendants of the Lost Ten Tribes are assisting Judah in conquering and settling the Land and fending off their foes. This will bring a Blessing upon them.
