The Israelites were encamped around the Tabernacle according to their Tribes and Tribal Symbols. Each Tribe and every person within  their  Tribe has their won individual destiny and task in this world. Together with this we all need to consider ourselves as a member of the Tribe and part of Israel in general. See:

Isn't Ephraim's symbol the Unicorn and not Manasseh because if you look at the coat of arms of the UK it stands on the right side of it.

the Midrash allocated the raem (unicorn) to Manasseh and the young bull to Ephraim.

 The lion and unicorn symbol on the British Coat of arms dates from the time of King James-1 (1603-1625). Prior to that in the time of Elizabeth (1533-1603) the English Coat of Arms had depicted a lion and a dragon.

The dragon represented Wales.

King James-1 (1603-1625) had been King James-vi of Scotland from 1567. When he became King of England and Scotland the two crowns were united.
The coat of arms of Scotland depicted two unicorns.
At that time according to our understanding Scotland and the north and west of England as well as Ulster were dominated by elements from Manasseh. Many of these migrated to North America.
