# Jewish Law forbids to eat the sciatic nerve, which is referred to as the gid hanasheh . The removal of the gid hanasheh and cheilev (forbidden fats) is called nikkur. Since it is labor intensive to remove all the forbidden parts of the hind-quarters of an animal, the entire hind quarters are usually sold to the non-kosher market. #
The source of the prohibition is from the struggle of Jacob with the Angel. The angel touched Jacob on the thigh and caused him to limp. Since then eating the particular factor that was touched is forbidden.
Genesis 32:
30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. 31 Just as he crossed over Penuel the sun rose on him, and he limped on his hip. 32 Therefore to this day the children of Israel do not eat the muscle that shrank, which is on the hip socket, because He touched the socket of Jacob's hip in the muscle that shrank.
Most ritual slaughters lack the expertise to remove the nerve so it is done by specially trained experts.
In Israel these specialist workers remove the nerve after slaughter rendering the rest of the hind quarters kosher. Overseas it is usually considered more economical to dispense with the services of the specialists and simply sell the whole of the hind portion to non-Jews.

For now, I want to add something to what Trevor Barnes alluded to concerning racial prejudice and the story of Miriam's punishment. Like Trevor, I believe God shows favor to certain people over others, and in fact this is central to understanding our Israelite heritage. We Israelites are a peculiar people because we attract the eye of God wherever we go and in whatever we set out to do.  Those of us who are Israelite know this, and those who aren't Israelite know this too. For example, clearly the English were chosen as a blessed people for the entire world hangs on her with regard to the measure of time and trade in using her Meridian. This is simply irrefutable. Even difficulty and hardship cannot deny a set apart people from who they truly are, and what they are to accomplish. It didn't start out for me that way, but I now know who I am and how this works.

My point is that I believe Miriam was not punished for her racial prejudice as she was punished for not respecting Moses as a face to face servant of God. Moses possessed a manifestation of favor with the Lord that Miriam was not including in her assessment of Moses. It was a prejudice against Moses, not against his wife per se.  God spoke to Moses face to face. He didn't have to work through dreams and visions. .. God is a jealous God, and I might add very protective of His own.

In the long run, or rather even in the immediate future, for the State of Israel to survive a greater involvement of members of the Ten tribes will be necessary.

Then you have the author, Veteran, economist, and commentator XXXX in this interview from Ben Gurion airport that you may find interesting.
All of these claim to come from an "Orthodox" point of view, as do you. All speak on Ephraim/Joseph & Judah.

I heard XXX some time ago. I do not know him but glancing at his web-site activity he seems impressive enough.
He speaks about the Ephraimite Movement in general BUT is non-committal.
He does not say anything about the Ten Tribes being amongst Western Peoples.
ZZZZ is aka OOO under a new name. He is a friend of ours. He is a Christian or at least openly believes in Christianity.
There are also BBBB who are active in the field but do not unequivocally say the Ten Tribes are to be identified with western peoples.
Neither do they try to prove it one way or the other.
There may be others BUT
Brit-Am/Hebrew Nations are the only ones who are both Orthodox in belief and also identify the Lost Ten Tribes as being amongst Western Peoples and bring proofs for it. In fact we seem to be the ONLY body in the State of Israel that emphasizes the PHYSICAL DESCENT of Western Peoples from the Ancient Hebrews!
This may change in the future but for the present that is what there is.
We have also merited to provide new insights and proofs from numerous sources confirming these facts.
For the time being we are what there is. This is not that bad. With very little we have done much. Help us to do more.
