7. Conclusion. The End of Evil Will Come. Enemies of Israel are the Enemies of God!
We find the enemies of Israel referred to as the enemies of the Almighty.
1The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
2 Avenge the Israelites on the Midianites; afterwards you shall be gathered to your people.
3 So Moses said to the people, Arm some of your number for the war, so that they may go against Midian, to execute the Lord's vengeance on Midian.
Moses spoke above of "the Lord's vengeance on Midian".
Rashi comments: Since they came against Israel it is considered as if they came against the Almighty!
The enemies of Israel are the enemies of God.
This was brought to my attention by Rabbi Yehonatan Davidy.
It belongs to the Torah Portion (Matot) that was read out on the Shabat on which began the Israeli Operation Protective Edge in Gaza.
Many Arabs are indeed descended from Midianites (Midrash, Abarbanel).
Psalm 83 describes various nations congregating together against the Israelite and Jewish peoples.
Amongst the adversaries we find Arab and European nations.
The precise identification of the peoples concerned may be left for another time. The overall message is still pertinent.
A Song. A Psalm of Asaph.
1 O God, do not keep silence;
do not hold your peace or be still, O God!
2 Even now your enemies are in tumult;
those who hate you have raised their heads.
3 They lay crafty plans against your people;
they consult together against those you protect.
4 They say, 'Come, let us wipe them out as a nation;
let the name of Israel be remembered no more.'
5 They conspire with one accord;
against you they make a covenant,
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Gebal and Ammon and Amalek,
Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Assyria also has joined them;
they are the strong arm of the children of Lot.
9 Do to them as you did to Midian,
as to Sisera and Jabin at the Wadi Kishon,
12 who said, 'Let us take the pastures of God
for our own possession.'
16 Fill their faces with shame,
so that they may seek your name, O Lord.
17 Let them be put to shame and dismayed for ever;
let them perish in disgrace.
18 Let them know that you alone,
whose name is the Lord,
are the Most High over all the earth.
2. Mark Williams: The Ten Tribes in Fiction
I found this on the internet http://preview.tinyurl.com/mnhdmqf
Regnum Iudaeorum - The Lost Ten Tribes Of Israel
It's an actual historical fiction novel about the Ten Tribes.
Which isn't a subject that has attracted much attention from fiction
3. Discussion About the Flags of the Tribes of Israel
Article discusses Israelite tribal Symbols as depicted on a series of Israeli Stamps visible from our website.
