HACK A rough cut, blow, or stroke from OE haccian ("to hack").

HAIL OE form of spelling of hale meaning both 'soldier' and 'strength,' the same as in Hebrew.

4. The Family Genealogy of Manasseh.
Timothy Adcock sent us a link to the following article:
"Manasseh's Genealogies: Why They Change Between Numbers, Joshua, and Chronicles."
The genealogy of the tribe of Manasseh appears in Numbers 26 and again in Joshua 17 with slight differences. It appears a third time, in 1 Chronicles 7, wholly reconceived, highlighting how certain biblical genealogies represent tribal kinship patterns that shift over time.

This article is interesting and valuable.
We may disagree with some aspects of it but on the whole it helps us make order out of the genealogies of the Tribe of Manasseh.

7. Question on the Egyptians ruling over the Land of Israel.
Egyptian inscriptions speak of Egyptian Rule over Canaan or portions of it.
The Bible however seems to mention nothing of this.
How so?
The Bible describes the Philistines as descendants of Mitsraim (i.e. Egypt) and also speaks of the Philistines periodically warring against the Hebrews and conquering lands from them.
It could be that in Egyptian eyes the Philistines were acting on their behalf whereas the Bible saw it from the point of view of the Hebrews. As far as the Hebrews were concerned it was the Philistines they had to deal with.
