Scientists use Carbon-14 dating as well as tree rings (dendrochronology), ice cores, and coral layers to prove that the earth is much older than the Bible would indicate.
They also use these methods to determine the age of archaeological finds.
None of these methods have been proven. On the contrary.
They do not know.
In the past tenured (i.e. paid) scientists made mistakes concerning health issues. Consequently people suffered and sometimes died unnecessarily. The science was then corrected.
Concerning the Age of the Earth or that of old bones on ancient sites no such consequences take place.
The whole of Western Civilization is based on the assumption that science is right.
Once we reject the validity of scientific dating the whole belief system collapses.
Scientists hate working in a vacuum. They have to believe in a standard they can use as relative to reality.
They cannot spend millions of dollars digging up ancient findings and not be able to fix a time to them.
Their livelihood depends on fixing a date, the older the better.
If one of their methods does not give the expected results it is rejected and done again, and again.
Every one of their claims however has been rebuffed by the evidence or lack of it.
